A PANICKED mother has been reunited with the Good Samaritan who drove her to the scene of an accident which involved her teenage son.

Tina Thompson received a call telling her son Jordan Fitch, 17, had been involved in a collision with a car in St John’s Road, Clacton, while riding his scooter.

The mum-of-three, of Mendlesham Close, Clacton, dashed out on foot towards Clacton Garden Centre with Jordan’s girlfriend Maddie - but he was not there.

With two garden centres on the same road they realised the crash was near St John’s Plant Centre, after Jaywick Lane.

Employee John Burns, 54, who was leaving work, offered her a lift.

She said: “The garden centre was closing and I saw a man near the gate and asked if there was someone who could drive me up.

“There was a bloke coming out at the same time, who I was told drives in that direction, and he gave me a lift with no qualms at all.

“Once we got there he pulled into a layby, I said thank you and he said he hoped my son was alright.

“It goes to show they’re still some really nice people around.”

Jordan was being checked out at the back of an ambulance when Miss Thompson arrived and paramedics told her he was in severe shock.

He was allowed to go home but was later taken to hospital because he was showing signs of memory loss.

The former Colchester Institute student was travelling back from St Osyth when his two-month-old scooter was written off.

She said: “It was heartbreaking. I got there and all I saw was his scooter in the road and just thought the worst.

“He’s in absolute shock and confused.

"There’s roughly six hours which are a complete blank and besides the memory loss he’s getting really bad pains in his legs, and the back of his neck.

“I’m just glad he was able to walk away from that and wanted to thank the guy who helped me in person.”

On Saturday, the trio were reunited but modest Mr Burns said anyone would have done the same.

He said: “I’m very pleased to hear Jordan was alright - all is well which ends well.

“It was no problem at all and it wasn’t something anyone else wouldn’t have done.”

An investigation into the cause of the collision is still being carried out.
