CLACTON is set for a four day market with a difference.

From Wednesday October 26 to Saturday the 29th, the town centre will feature a range of stalls from Modern Markets.

The stalls will have a continental and ethnic theme, and will includes a wide range of foods and crafts.

They include paella, crepes, Italian sweets, gourmet German sausages and burgers, jewelry, leather belts, wooden carvings, haberdashery, alpaca clothing/ ethnic goods, pictures, teak garden furniture, printing t-shirts, polygel flowers, pottery, Thai goods, bath bombs and soaps, incense and mythical figures.

Organised by the Clacton Town Partnership, its chairman Graham Webb said the markets will offer a broader range of goods than previous continental markets.

The good sold also shouldn’t clash with other retailers in Clacton town centre.

“These are high quality specialist goods. Modern Markets go all over the country. They must know what they are doing. I hope and am sure this will be a popular market attraction that will bring extra shoppers to Clacton town centre,” he said.

Mr Webb said next week’s market is in addition to the usual market, featuring the regular traders, at the annual switching on of Clacton’s Christmas lights on December 3.

He added that his group is also busily working with Tendring Council on delivering new Christmas lights for the festive season.

The Clacton Town Partnership has paid for 20 new lighted Christmas trees, Tendring Council is funding 10 and two more will be funded by individuals. But he and the council are trying to increase total numbers, he added.
