PRESTIGIOUS flags have been hoisted proudly at the top green spaces and beauty spots in Tendring.

Judges visited the area earlier this year and have now awarded Green Flags to several areas in the district.

The coveted flags are flying high at Clacton’s Seafront Gardens, Frinton’s Crescent Gardens, and Weeley Crematorium, as well as Cliff Park in Dovercourt.

The flag was raised at the Crescent Gardens by youngsters at Frinton Primary School, who help with floral planting at the seafront site.

It was given special praise by judges for its colour co-ordinated flower beds.

Judges also admired the character of the 1920s shelters in Clacton’s Seafront Gardens, praising council staff and green-fingered volunteers for making it a space of top community value.

Weeley Crematorium was noted for its stunning rose displays and peaceful setting.

Tendring Council environment boss Michael Talbot said he was delighted to see staff and volunteers recognised with the Green Flag awards for their hard work.

“These awards recognise and highlight that residents and visitors to Tendring benefit from green spaces of the very highest quality,” he said.

“The flags are a testament to the efforts of all those who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award.”

People can also vote for their favourite Green Flag-recipient in the People’s Choice Award at greenflagaward.org. Voting closes at noon on September 30.
