A CLACTON woman has been picked for a prestigious ambassador role to get more females active.

Natasha Potter has been chosen to become a ‘This Girl Can’ ambassador for Active Essex after her success running a Tendring-wide fitness scheme.

She was engagement manager for community fitness project Beat the Street, which inspired more than 10,000 residents to get involved.

It challenged people to walk or cycle as far as possible and recorded their progress with electronic cards.

Now Natasha has secured a role boosting the This Girl Can initiative – started by Sport England.

It is aimed at celebrating active women and getting more girls to take part in sports and other physical activities.

Natasha said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted to have been chosen as a This Girl Can ambassador for Essex.

“As a local to the area, I am so passionate about Tendring and feel very honoured to represent the district and Essex in this national campaign.

‘Tendring has beautiful outdoor spaces and coastline as well as great fitness facilities.

“I hope through my work in Beat the Street and this campaign, I can encourage ladies and girls in the area to try different physical activities, no matter their abilities or how they do it.”

She added: “The response to Beat the Street has been fantastic and I hope to keep encouraging those participants that loved the game as well as new ladies and girls.”

Natasha has been organising a range of activities across Tendring to continue the Beat the Street legacy and keep people motivated.
