A RACE night with a difference came to Clacton with the annual Clacton Carnival week’s Donkey Derby.
Warm sun and blue skies greeted the crowds at Alton Park Junior School, who enjoyed seven races each featuring seven donkeys.
Nicky Freeman, spokesman for the carnival, said: “The crowds had a great time betting on the donkeys. Lots were winning money.
“Each of the races were sponsored and every rider won a rosette.”
The school also hosted donkey rides so youngsters not able to race could get involved.
It was the first time the Donkey Derby had been held at Alton Park Junior School, moving from Tendring Education Centre.
The carnival fete tales place tomorrow at 5pm at Alton Park Junior School.
