OWNERS of a listed village pub have been given the green light to give it a major makeover.

The Queen’s Head pub in Great Clacton will get a new look after chain owner Punch Taverns was given permission to carry out significant interior work.

It will include revamping the space by cutting back walls and doorways.

A new floor and finishings will also be installed, as well as a smoking shelter outside.

The pub is a grade II listed building on the edge of the Great Clacton conservation area, dating back to the 16th or 17th century.

Tendring Council decided the proposed changes would enhance the pub and would not damage its historic importance.
