Popular tv comic Jimmy Carr is to make a second appearance at Clacton’s Princes Theatre this year.

The encore performance follows his first date on August 16 almost selling out already.

Tickets for the second show lined up for October 16 go on sale on Friday April 29 at 10am.

The 43-year-old has enjoyed sell-out performances at the Princes in 2008, 2012 and 2014.

Promoters expect the tv host and panellist to play to a full house again.

Tendring Council, which runs the Princes in Clacton Town Hall, believes it is important for provincial seaside theatres like Princes to attract top acts.

“To have Jimmy once in a year is great but to have him for a second show in the same 12 months is a real coup for us - and a real first for the theatre,” said Mick Skeels, Tendring Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism and Events.

“He is without a shadow of a doubt one of the biggest names on the comedy circuit and is always a massive draw.”

Carr’s TV work includes 8 Out of 10 Cats, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year and 10 O’Clock Live.

He has performed nine sell-out tours over 15 years, playing nearly 2,000 shows to more than two million people across four continents.

Tickets, priced £27.50 (no under 16’s) for both shows which start at 8pm, are available from the box office on 01255 686633 or by booking online at www.essex-live.co.uk
