A UKIP councillor arrested on suspicion of assault has been released from his bail without charge.
Postmaster Mohammed Khan, who runs the Magdalen Green post office in Old Road, was arrested on Thursday morning.
He was subsequently suspended from his group's activities.
Following his arrest Mr Khan, who represents Clacton’s Pier ward, said: “It was a minor thing that took place and I don’t want to make a mountain out of molehill.”
Mark Stephenson, leader of the UKIP Group on Tendring Council, said Mr Khan's suspension has now been lifted.
He said: “A decision was taken to suspend Mr Khan from all duties as a member of the group pending the outcome of the police investigation.
“It was a completely neutral act and the correct and proper way for us to deal with the situation at the time.
“Mr Khan has now been released from his bail without charge and therefore his suspension has now been lifted."
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A 57-year-old man from Clacton has been released from his bail without charge."
