FOUR fire crews have been tackling a blaze at a groundfloor flat in Clacton this morning.

The fire started at a property in Knox Road just after 8.30am today.

Fire crews from Clacton, Weeley and Frinton were called to the scene.

The flat was heavily smokelogged and 30 per cent alight when they arrived. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus battled the flames. 

No-one was trapped in the building and the occupants have been accounted for.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
