Independent businesses in Tendring got the chance to learn social media skills today in a bid to help boost trade.
Traders from across the district took part in the Marketing in a Digital World course in Weeley.
The event was organised by Tendring Council and the sessions were taken by Mike McLain, who runs Great Danes in Frinton.
Companies from Brightlingsea, Clacton, Dovercourt, Frinton, Great Bentley, Harwich and Manningtree signed up with 15 attendees taking part.
They covered all the basics of social media and how to get started on Facebook, Twitter and Google.
Giles Watling, cabinet member for regeneration and inward investment, said it was a further example of the Council supporting its companies.
“Our superb Regeneration Team stage a number of workshops throughout the year which always prove popular with a range of firms and retailers coming along,” he said.
“This one was aimed at using social media to market a business with a view to increasing sales and profit and developing a brand.
"Our council is determined to take a lead in promoting business development in our district.”
