A NEW post office facility will be created in St Osyth as part of a redevelopment scheme.

Plans have been agreed to demolish and rebuild 18 Clacton Road using the groundfloor for retail purposes and create three self-contained flats on the first floor.

There will also be an extension to number 20 which will provide a post office counter area.

The proposal is supported by the parish council.

Tendring Council has approved the planning application for the building, which was considered to be beyond economic repair.

The council said the redevelopment would help preserve the character of the village’s conservation area and provide significant benefits to the local community.
