YOUNGSTERS are preparing to explore underwater wrecks and ruins by building their own hi-tech submarine.
Students at Clacton County High are testing their engineering skills to the limit by building the unmanned, remote-controlled machine.
The mini-submarine will be packed with high-tech gear, including an HD camera and laser sensors to scan underwater wreckage.
Schooldchildren have been given permission to explore the wreckage of a First World War craft sunk by a mine in 1914 - once they have learned to operate the sub in a swimming pool.
