VOLUNTEER lifeboat crews were called to the aid of two sailors after the mast of their yacht snapped off Clacton.
Clacton RNLI’S Atlantic 85 lifeboat was called to the yacht, which also had its lines entangling its propeller, 4.5 miles off the resort at about 8.10am on Thursday.
Crewman Joff Strutt said: “When we arrived on scene a crew member was transferred to the casualty boat to assist its two crew in making all the rigging safe before receiving a towline from the lifeboat.
“The yacht was towed into Brightlingsea harbour and berthed to await repairs.”
Clacton Coastguard was also called to the harbour to assist the berthing.
