CLACTON’S Princes Theatre has been given a much-needed facelift.
More than £19,000 has been invested in a new carpet, curtains and redecorating, as well as improvements to the bar.
The theatre, in Clacton Town Hall, puts on a varied programme of shows and hosts a number of major events during the year.
Tendring Council leisure boss Mick Skeels said: “We want our audiences, our entertainers and all those who use the theatre to have the best possible experience and look forward to coming back.
“I think it is fair to say that parts of the theatre were looking a little tired and were in need of a modernisation programme.
“We have achieved a great deal on a relatively small budget – especially considering the size of the theatre – and I hope people will be impressed with what they find.”
Last year, the theatre attracted more than 36,000 visitors.
