THE new Mayor of Frinton and Walton is set to be named at a meeting tonight.

Iris Johnson has served as mayor for the past two years, with fellow Tendring First councillor Jack Robinson as deputy.

Mayors normally serve a one-year term before making way for a successor.

But Mrs Johnson was nominated to take on a second term at last year’s mayor-making meeting.

A new mayor will be selected tonight.

Following last week’s election, Frinton and Walton Town Council still has a Tendring First majority, despite seeing an influx of new councillors.

Newly elected to the council are Mark Brown, Mark Platt, Linda Allen, Fiona Robertson, Paul Clifton, Dave Fitz-Hardy and David Oxley.

Retaining their seats were Terry Allen, Nick Turner, Vanda Watling, Chris Keston, Iris Johnson, Andrea Cossens, Robert Bucke, Delyth Miles and Jack Robertson.

Members will also be appointed to the council’s working parties and committees at tonight’s meeting.
