BOAT building firm C-Truk has won an order for two more of its catamaran wind farm service vessels.

Both will be delivered to leading offshore wind service supplier CWind this summer for use at the Baltic Two Offshore Wind Farm in Germany.

C-Truk, based in Brightlingsea, was recently given a £1million Government cash boost for a state-of-the-art hub, which will create 122 jobs.

The investment means the firm can create an £8.3million centre at the former Fieldgates site in Haven Road, the Hythe, Colchester.

The new site will see even bigger boats built to serve the offshore wind farm industry.

Peter Jorgensen, CWind’s managing director, said: “The 22-metre vessels have proven to be a valuable addition to the CWind fleet, particularly from a passenger comfort perspective.

“There is ample space on this vessel for technicians to change and stow wet kit before moving into the main seating area for a comfortable transit, which is of key importance when working in challenging weather conditions.

“She is also effectively executing load carrying and refuelling duties as part of her current contract. That makes her a very sound investment and we eagerly await delivery of the next two.”

CTruk’s base in Brightlingsea will remain as a delivery and maintenance base and used for sea trials for new vessels.

To date, it has designed and built 26 craft for the commercial marine, military and security sectors.
