SEASIDE bosses are hoping for a boom in summer trade, thanks to a new TV advertising campaign.

The Love Clacton campaign will be launched next month, with a TV commercial lined up to start appearing on screens in the middle of May.

Tendring Council has been working with local businesses Clacton Pier, Clacton Pavilion and Park Resorts to secure the deal with ITV.

Each of the businesses involved put up funding to make the project possible.

The campaign has been hailed asamajor step forward in promoting the area. It will include an advert running in the East and South-East, together with an On Demand campaign in London.

Tendring Council communications boss Nigel Brown called it a “serious commitment to Clacton”.

He said: “The whole idea came from the private sector. The businesses approached the council and we all teamed up to make this happen.

“Individual companies in the area have undertaken TV advertising over the years, but this is the first time since the town’s heyday that Clacton has been promoted in this way.”
