BOOKSHOP owners are set to make their children’s section to look like Frinton’s famous greensward thanks to a grant from a best-selling author.
Caxton Books, on Frinton's Connaught Avenue, applied for a grant from US author James Patterson - best known for penning the Alex Cross series - when he announced he was giving away £250,000 to independent bookshops in the UK and Ireland.
Co-owner Judith Charlesworth said: “Our plan is to change the children’s section of the bookshop and make it look as if there is kite-flying going on and things like that to make it look just like the greensward.”
The grants are worth between £250 and £5,000.
Mr Patterson said: “I have been completely overwhelmed by just how many people have applied for the grants and have been impressed and enthused by the calibre of the applications.”
