A PEDESTRIAN suffered major injuries and needed surgery after being hit by a car in a late-night smash near Clacton seafront.
The 27 year-old victim was pushing his bike along Marine Parade East near the Vista Road junction when a vehicle crashed into him.
It failed to stop at the scene, leaving the man badly injured at the side of the road.
He suffered a perforated bowel and a fractured elbow in the collision.
Paramedics arrived and took him to hospital for emergency surgery.
The car involved in the crash was dark coloured and the incident happened between 11.20pm and 11.50pm on Tuesday March 17.
