COUNCILLORS have welcomed plans to spend £20,000 on a youth group in an area of high child poverty.
In November, a shocking report revealed 45 per cent of children in Clacton’s Rush Green ward were living in poverty.
The figures are similar to inner-city areas such as London’s Bethnal Green and Manchester Central.
Inclusion Ventures is a charity set up to improve the lives of vulnerable young people from the most disadvantaged areas of west Clacton.
It has now been handed £20,000 to continue its work from Tendring Council’s Big Society Fund.
Councillor Danny Mayzes said: “I’m ecstatic that Inclusion Ventures has been awarded this money to help them keep delivering the fantastic work that they do on a daily basis."
