A WORKMAN is fighting for his life in hospital after falling from scaffolding in Brightlingsea.
The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was flown to hospital with serious chest injuries after plummeting from a two-storey building at Fieldgate Dock.
Paramedics and the Essex Air Ambulance were called to the scene on Monday at 2pm.
The man's injuries were described as potentially life-threatening.
A woman, who lives opposite the scene, said: “We heard a loud cry and realised a man had fallen off the scaffolding.
“We rushed outside to make him as comfortable as possible before the ambulance arrived. He was conscious when they arrived but seemed to be in a lot of pain.
“It looks like a terrible accident.”
A row of terraced houses in Fieldgate Dock are currently being renovated and scaffolding has been up for about a month.
