A WOMAN who went to see bondage blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey got more than she bargained for when she was led away in handcuffs.

Things got heated at a packed screening of the 18-rated sizzler at Clacton’s Century Cinema and 22-year-old Amy Murray, of Redbarn Road, Brightlingsea, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly and assault.

Police were called to the Pier Avenue cinema at about 10pm on Wednesday, shortly before the end of the film, which tells the story of a billionaire with a dark side and the woman who falls for him.

It is alleged the woman had been asked to stop talking loudly during the performance.

Cinema-goers were given free tickets to see the performance again after they missed the last 20 minutes.

Adam Cunard, the cinema’s managing director, said police were called to the scene.

He said: “It was very unfortunate for this to happen.

“Most people understood and we have given refunds and extra tickets to future performances.”

Ms Murray was charged with assault and being drunk and disorderly in a public place in relation to the incident.

She was released on bail and will appear before magistrates in Colchester on April 9.
