ONE of Frinton’s oldest family businesses is set to expand.
Kevin Pearce, in Connaught Avenue, started selling oriental rugs and curtain fabric in the 1980s.
Over the years it has moved into made-to-measure blinds, wood flooring and carpets, as well as wallpaper and paint.
Director Daniel Pearce said: “My father started the business 32 years ago and I joined 12 years ago.
“We had the opportunity to take over the shop next door, which will now be a showroom.
“Things for all businesses have been tough for the past few years, but more and more people are moving to the area and are looking forquality carpets. It’s very exciting for us and for all of Connaught Avenue to have businesses expanding.
“It will have a positive effect on the street.”
The firm, which employs several fitters as well as three people in the showroom, will be taking on an extra member of staff as part of its expansion plans.
