A MAJOR £1.4million revamp at Weeley crematorium could be delayed ... by nesting bats.
Surprised staff found a baby bat crawling on the floor at the site.
The discovery means Tendring Council, which runs the crematorium, has to apply for a licence before carrying out a planned big-money upgrade.
The scheme includes an extension to the main building, two new cremators and changes to the access road to create 50 new parking spaces.
Contractors were due to move onto the site at the end of the month and work should start in February.
But that could now be delayed by the protected mammals.
