RADIO 1 will broadcast from Tendring Technology College for a day after the school won a national competition.
The likes of Fearne Cotton and Scott Mills will visit the upper school in Frinton on Monday, November 10.
A music video created by pupils and teachers was picked as the winner in the station’s Best Day Ever contest.
Breakfast show DJ Nick Grimshaw called media teacher Elissa Moore live on air to tell her – and six million listeners –Tendring Technology College had won.
Principal Caroline Haynes said: “It’s incredibly exciting for all of us here. The station has millions of listeners and our school will be a huge part of the shows throughout the day.”
The winning 30-second film featured students and teachers miming to chart-topping tunes. It was capped by a clip of the group imploring presenters to visit them while singing along to their own version of Rather Be, by Clean Bandit.
Ms Haynes said: “We’re planning lessons to suit each of the DJs coming in, including cooking and dancing classes.
“We have put a lot of work into getting to this point, but the real hard work and preparation starts now. It’s a huge honour to be chosen and the staff and students can’t wait to welcome them.”
