A NINE-MONTH-OLD baby - whose organs were donated after her death - has helped save the lives of four children.

Diamond Roberts, who lived in Colchester, was killed when two cars were involved in a collision in Thorrington in August last year.

She was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, but died shortly afterwards.

But in a move which her family said had given them comfort, Diamond’s organs were donated to children in need of a transplant.

Now Diamond has been honoured, having been awarded the Order of St John Award for Organ Donation.

Diamond’s mum, Crystal Osbourne said: “It was a huge honour to have Diamond’s name on something so meaningful.

“It helps me to know that, although I have lost my baby, four other children are able to live on thanks to her.

“It is a wonderful legacy and it helps to know that her life was not lost in vain.”
