A BID to clamp down on dog mess in Clacton seafront has been hailed a success.
Tendring Council staged the day of action after a resident sent in a homemade DVD highlighting the problem.
The council staged an operation along Clacton and Holland-on-Sea seafronts last week.
Officers spoke to more than 50 dog walkers and handed out thousands of bags so owners can clean up after their pets.
Fido – the council’s street cleaning vehicle – also swept the area to clean up any mess.
Dog warden Adam McGoldrick said: “It was good for a team of us to be seen on the streets.
“We also spoke to dog owners about what they thought could be done about the problem and will be looking into their ideas.”
Similar action days could now be held in other areas.
