DEVELOPERS and landowners have proposed their own huge new housing estates for thousands of homes in Tendring.
Councillors have provisionally earmarked sites for 12,120 new homes across the district as part of Tendring Council’s draft development plan over the next 17 years.
The sites were agreed at a meeting of the council’s Local Plan Committee, attended by about 300 residents, on Tuesday.
But landowners and developers have objected to the council’s draft blueprint, calling for their own sites to be included instead.
Those proposals include a plan by developer Robinson and Hall for the 2,500-home Hartley Gardens estate, between Bockings Elm in Clacton and Little Clacton.
Developers Hawkspur have also put forward plans for up to 2,000 homes – dubbed Tendring Central – between Frating, Hare Green and Raven’s Green.
Residents will get to have their say as part of a consultation before the final plan is submitted to planning inspectors.
