TOP authors visited a Tendring school to talk to youngsters about their experiences.

Traveller and free-runner Marcus Alexander visited the Thorpe campus of Tendring Technology College.

He has travelled across the world, before returning to the UK to pen fantasy novels for youngsters.

School spokeswoman Michelle Grosvenor said: “The visit was amazing. He was such a lovely man with a wealth of life experiences to share with all our younger students.

“His main message for all of us was that the more life experiences you have, the more you try something new, then the wider your imagination and the better person you become.”

Marcus said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to meet and work with the students, who were creative, diligent and asked truly interesting and inspiring questions.”

Another author to visit the school was Bulgarian Oggy Boytchev.

He grew up in poverty in communist Bulgaria before seeking asylum in Britain and going on to become one of the BBC’s leading foreign journalists.
