A NEW charity has been launched for abuse victims.
SAFSA – Support and Advice for Families Surviving Abuse – has been set up in Tendring.
Spokeswoman Nicola Ellis said: “With abuse cases, it is about having someone to talk to because once the police have a conviction, you are just left.
"It is about getting people to realise that what has happened to them is not their fault. People can phone our helpline and we can give them advice, support and counselling.”
The charity offers help to victims of emotional, physical and sexual abuse as well as discrimination.
It is holding a sponsored pier to pier walk from Walton to Clacton on Saturday at 11am. The helpline number is 07873 191466.
