HUNDREDS of cups of coffee and cakes were consumed at leisure centres in Tendring to boost fundraising for Macmillan nurses.
Events were staged last week at Clacton Leisure Centre, Frinton and Walton Swimming Pool, Manningtree Sports Centre and Harwich Sports Centre.
They took place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the sites, which are all run by Tendring Council.
Staff provided the refreshments and customers supported the effort by buying up the goodies.
Nigel Brown, the council’s communications manager, said: “In all around £770 was raised for a very worthwhile cause and we are very grateful to all those who came along for a cuppa and a cake.”
Other Macmillan events around the area also boosted a grand total which was donated to help the cancer care charity.
