A NATURE reserve in Frinton could be set for a big clean-up.
The Spinney, near Frinton railway station, is owned by the town council and leased to Essex Wildlife Trust to manage.
Town councillors say the site has become untidy and want to see changes made to make it more accessible.
In November they will meet Tendring Council chief executive Ian Davidson to discuss the way forward, as well as the state of play in the wider area.
Mayor Iris Johnson said: “It is a wildlife area and we don’t need it to have a manicured lawn, but it does need to be cleaned up. We want it tidied up, particularly the outer hedge.
“It is one of the first parts of Frinton people see as they come through the gates.”
But Essex Wildlife Trust is against any improvement projects at the Spinney and wants to maintain its status as a natural wildlife reserve.
Mrs Johnson added: “The trust wants it left as it is. Depending on what we decide to do, they may walk away from the Spinney.”
Mr Davidson is set to meet the town council on November 20.
