TRIBUTES have been paid to a musician and leisure centre boss who has died after a long illness.

Lincoln Anderson played bass with the legendary Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel from 2001, and was also manager at Brightlingsea Leisure Centre.

Steve’s website said: “It is with a heavy heart that we must report that Lincoln Anderson passed away today at 5.30pm, after a long illness.

“Steve and all the band and crew send their deepest sympathy to Lincoln’s wife, Shereen, and his family and close friends.”

Lincoln played on the albums Stranger Comes to Town, The Quality of Mercy and Anytime.

He died peacefully on September 4.

He had worked for Tendring Council for more than 20 years.

Ops manager and pal Mike Carran said: “Anyone who met Lincoln never forgot him.

"He was a whirlwind of activity and couldn’t sit still for ten seconds.

“Linc wasn’t just a rock star. He was our rock star from Brightlingsea Sports Centre. But far more importantly he was a largerthan- life character, full of humility, charm and zest for life."
