POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the chimney of a caravan is thought to have pulled down power lines in Little Clacton.
The incident happened in St Osyth Road at about 3.30pm on Thursday.
The road was closed until shortly before 7pm while the cables were repaired.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: People living nearby saw a lorry carrying a beige coloured mobile home with a green roof, and amber lights on, travelling along the road.
“The chimney on the caravan may have struck the power lines and ripped them down.
“The vehicle did not stop at the scene.”
Anybody with any information about the incident is asked to call PC Andy Fitch, at Stanway Response and Patrol Unit, on 101.
