CLACTON coastguards helped air ambulance paramedics lift a woman from the beach in St Osyth after she suffered a broken ankle.
The woman, 69, suffered the break after a fall on the Point Clear beach just after 4pm on Saturday.
Coastguards evacuated the area so the Essex Air Ambulance could land at the scene. Paramedics checked the woman over at the beach before taking her to Colchester General Hospital.
