COMMUNITY groups are being invited to bid for grants of up to £20,000.

Essex County Council is making money available through its Community Initiatives Fund, which aims to help groups develop and improve their services.

Groups can apply for help funding schemes which improve people’s health and wellbeing, enhance education, create a more sustainable environment or stimulate economic growth.

John Jowers, county councillor for communities, said: “Local groups play a major role in communities and it’s so important that they are able to continue their good work, especially during financially difficult times.

“Through making this money available we can help them maintain and further enhance the services they provide for the benefit of the people of Essex.’ Groups need to submit an expression of interest by August 29, then complete a full application by September 26.
