IT's take-off time at this year’s bumper Clacton Air Show.

The event, which is in its 23rd year, takes place Thursday and Friday at the resort’s West Greensward. The action gets under way at around 12.30pm on both days.

Organisers claim the show will be the biggest and best yet with aircraft ranging from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight to modern day fighter jets.

Mark Platt, Tendring Council’s cabinet member for tourism, said: “Last year we had around 140,000 people watching the show over the two days and it would be great if we can top that this time."

The air show will include the Red Arrows (Friday only), who are celebrating their 50th anniversary, as well as the Typhoon Eurofighter, the Avro Vulcan (Thursday only), Royal Canadian Lancaster and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

The programme also includes the Sea King Helicopter, Tutor, Autogyro, Essex Air Ambulance, RAF Tucano, the Breitling Wingwalkers, the Trig Aerobatic Team, Rolls Royce Spitfire, the Bulldog as well as Richard Goodwin and his modified Pitts S2S G-EWIZ.
