Diamond couple celebrate 60 years of marriage
A DIAMOND couple from Clacton celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary today.
Peter and Jillian Hindwell, of London Road, Clacton, marked 60 years of marriage with a garden party for their extensive family on Thursday.
Peter, 83, and Jillian, 78, first met in Portsmouth on Easter Monday in 1954 and married just four months later.
“It was loved at first sight,” said Mrs Hindwell, who is originally from Midhurst in Surrey.
The couple married in Midhurst on August 14, 1954. They moved to the Clacton area in 1964 and Peter worked as a bus driver while Jillian raised their children.
They have five children, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
