THEY might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but that didn’t stop crooks stealing two giant gnomes from Jerry Clarke’s garden.
Jerry and wife June had gone out for the day when the thieves struck at the couple’s caravan on Weeley Bridge holiday park.
Retired postman Jerry, 67, said: “One was a green huntsman with a shotgun and fish at his feet and the other was an ordinary red gnome.
“They are both missing and no-one saw a thing. They were on the decking.”
Jerry and June, 66, had grown fond of their 3ft tall garden gnomes.
The couple used them as a landmark to help visitors pinpoint their caravan.
Jerry added: “They must weigh 40kg each so they can’t be easy to move – I couldn’t even lift one on my own.
“I had to roll them when I moved them.
“I don’t know who would do such a thing – it’s beyond me.
“Whoever pinched them might have done it to sell them because they are quite architectural, or maybe they just did it for a laugh.”
