A CANCER sufferer from Clacton is keen to raise awareness of a specialist support group.
Jackie Brewer lost her husband to cancer in 2010, and six months later was diagnosed with liver and bowel cancer herself. She was given five to ten years to live and has had hormone injections to slow the cancer down.
Jackie has been supported by a group for people with gastric, oesophageal, pancreatic or bowel cancer.
She said: “I didn’t want to go to start with. I was adamant I didn’t want to sit around and talk about cancer.” But she found: “It helps enormously to come to terms with it.”
The group meets at Colchester Hospital on the third Thursday of the month. Call 07565 929381 or e-mail info.gics@gics.org.uk
