INTERGALACTIC youngsters took part in a space-themed toddle to raise money for charity.

Pupils from Hemmington House Children’s Centre, in Jaywick, strode from the centre down to the Martello Tower half a mile away dressed as astronauts and aliens in aid of Barnardo's.

The charity’s Michelle Lee-Izu started the youngsters off and was delighted with the turn-out.

“The event was a lot of fun with numerous activities for toddlers, including spaced-themed arts and crafts,” she said.

“There was a good turn-out, and all children received a medal when they crossed the finish line.”

Other children’s centres in Tendring also took part in Tuesday's toddle, which has raised more than £12 million since it was launched in 1996.
