A BRAVE 21 year old woman from Frinton has lost her battle with cancer.
Freya James died on May 28, the day after her 21st birthday.
The former Frinton Primary School and Tendring Technology College pupil with a flair for drama was diagnosed with cancer four years ago.
She soldiered through months of tough treatments, but never let the disease hold her back, studying dramatherapy at university in Derby alongside undergoing treatment.
But the cancer returned earlier this year and finally got the better of her.
Tributes have poured in from friends and family, with more than 100 people attending her funeral.
Mum Lisa Lethbridge said: “Freya was my wonderful girl, caring, kind and thoughtful to everyone.
“She coped with her illness with a strength of spirit I have never seen in anyone before. She never wanted a fuss made. Words can’t describe how much we will miss her."
Frinton Cricket Club recently held a fundraising weekend in Freya’s name, while some of her university friends have continued Freya’s efforts to raise cash for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Lisa added: “She wanted to raise money for the charities that helped her and would be so proud that this is continuing in her name.”
