THE diabetes service offered to patients in Tendring and Colchester has been nominated for a national award.
The North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group is on the shortlist for the Health Service Journal’s Value in Healthcare award.
Diabetes services had previously been provided by hospitals, GPs and community care, but a new integrated service aims for earlier diagnosis and treatment.
CCG public health consultant Dr Jo Broadbent said: “The process ensured we achieved value for money by engaging with patients, clinicians and providers very early to understand where services were being duplicated.”
The award winner will be announced in London on September 23.
