A BRAVE young girl had her hair chopped short for charity in memory of her granddad.

Maisey Jones, 12, of Stanley Road in Clacton, was determined to get a drastic haircut after granddad Frank died following a battle with cancer.

Her family assumed she would lose interest in the idea but persistent Maisey kept asking until her mum relented.

She had her waist-length hair chopped back into a short bob at Clacton salon Ultraviolet, before sending it off to the Little Princesses Trust.

The charity creates real hair wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer battles.

Maisey’s mum Kerry Jones-Montague said: “After her granddad died she kept saying she wanted to do this.

“I kept putting her off thinking she would lose interest but she was determined.

“I’m so proud of her for going through with it for a wonderful cause. She is amazing.”
