A STUDENT has been awarded a prestigious Diana Award for giving up his time to help the elderly and disabled.
Samuel Thomson, 15, of Clacton Coastal Academy, was nominated for the award – in memory of Princess Diana - by the school because of his volunteer work.
He volunteers at his local community centre and has had a huge impact upon the lives of many in a deprived area.
He was presented with the Diana Champion Volunteer award at a special ceremony at Churchill Place in London this week.
Just 70 young people a year from across the country receive Diana Awards for improving the lives of others.
