A SOCIAL group has launched Holland-on-Sea’s first ever open garden event to boost funds for a new church kitchen.

The event will see a host of gardens opened up for the public to explore, with some spectacular examples of wildlife and floral displays on offer.

St Bart’s Church Social Group has organised the fundraiser to raise cash towards modernising the church kitchen.

Fenella Dufton, from St Bart’s Social Committee, said: “There are nine gardens within the Holland boundary for you to view and two slightly outside.

“We hope people will support this very worthwhile venture. A new kitchen with modern facilities would greatly enhance the usage of the hall, not just within the church but the wider community of Holland and the surrounding areas.”

The gardens will be opened on July 5 and 6.

Tickets will be sold at the designated gardens on the days of the event, costing £5 for adults.

Free garden guides are available in advance from St Bart’s Church or the Post Offices in Stratford Road and Kings Avenue, or on the day from the first garden at 74 Fleetwood Avenue.
