A TENDRING school is making the most of the World Cup by organising a host of footie-themed competitions to get pupils excited about reading and writing.
Tendring Technology College’s Thorpe campus has been gripped by World Cup fever.
And staff have taken advantage of the spectacular tournament to fire up the imaginations of pupils.
Special contests include a literacy competition for pupils to write a voluntary 500-word report on the history of the World Cup.
A host of prizes are on offer, including a Kindle and footballs signed by Colchester United stars Tom Eastman and Alex Gilby.
Michelle Grosvenor, learning resource centre manager at the school, said: “This has been a fantastic opportunity for the Students to enjoy their reading and with rewards.
“Their enthusiasm has been overwhelming and they are really enjoying reading for their goals.
“It is great because it means they are doing this for pleasure, having some fun but also most importantly improving their literacy skills.”
