Colchester United will stand alongside Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club this weekend, as they host their annual fun day for the community, and award all their players for their efforts in this year’s football season.

Midfielder Alex Gilbey, who started his football career with Frinton and Walton YFC, will be making an appearance, signing autographs and posing for photos on the day, which kicks off at 11am on Saturday at Thorpe le Soken Social Club.

Chris Byland, press secretary for Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club, said: "It's a great honour to have Colchester United standing alongside Frinton and Walton YFC at our events.

"All the players at Frinton and Walton work incredibly hard, and we’re so pleased we’re able to bring the community together to honour them every year.”

He added: “Alex is a model player who we’re proud of here at Frinton and Walton Youth Football Club, and shows players of all ages that with hard work, anything is possible.”

U's mascot Eddie the Eagle will also be making a splash at the fun day, as well as live music from local singer Tracey Moorhouse, bouncy castles, raffles, five a side fun matches and more.

The day is open to everyone in the local area. Anybody wishing to offer raffle prizes or other support to Frinton and Walton YFC should contact club secretary Sarah Muckle on 07792 322698.
