FED-UP residents have been told they will have to continue picking up waste left strewn around the streets by rampaging seagulls.
Homeowners hit out at Tendring Council when garbage was left along their road after hungry gulls ripped open bin bags before binmen could collect them.
Council bosses say there are no plans to extend trials of gullet-proof binbags on some seafront roads in Clacton to the Jaywick area.
A Tendring Council spokesman said the responsibility for waste bags remains with householders until collections take place.
If binmen are responsible for any spillages, then they should clear the mess up.
“Based on the photo provided, the council’s waste and recycling contractors had not yet made their normal round to this property,” said the spokesman.
“We would strongly advise all residents to put their food waste in the green caddy provided – and clearly evident in the photo - so that the birds are unable to get at it.
“If they are left in the sacks there is a risk birds and other animals will tear them open.”
