A SPECIAL flag has been raised in Clacton in a show of support for the country’s troops.
Veterans from the Royal British Legion, Royal Air Force Association, Royal Naval Association, and the Korean Veterans Association joined town hall councillors, staff and members of the public on Monday morning.
Tendring Council chairman Val Guglielmi hoisted the Armed Forces flag.
“It is important that we take time out in this way to show our support and thank our Armed Forces around the world for all that they continue to do for us,” she said.
“It was an honour to join the veterans outside the town hall and I was very proud to have the task of raising the flag on behalf of all residents across our district.
“The ceremony gives us an opportunity to show our appreciation for the dangerous work carried out by our service men and woman in all conflicts.
“We must never forget what they go through to help make the world a safer place.”
The flag will fly until Armed Forces Day on Saturday.
